THE CHESTER MOSSMAN TEEN CENTER

15 MEMORIAL DRIVE

LUNENBURG, MA 01462

OVERVIEW

We need to come together to prevent our teens from opting for

negative choices and provide a teen center opportunity, which will

enhance their lives and, as a result, the lives of our entire community.

New facility will be completed and open for operation by Fall 2004.

This Teen Center will serve 500-600 middle school and high school youth in town

each year. It will be a safe haven for after-school/weekend social events,

enrichment programs and provide numerous opportunities for teens to develop

leadership skills.

In addition to an adult Board of Directors, teens are being recruited to serve on an

advisory board and continue to be involved in all phases of teen center

development.

Young families will utilize the facility in the morning hours and other community

committees will meet after teen center hours, making it really a wonderful, centra!

place in town for so many families.

The estimated cost of construction is $110,000 and will be funded by Chester

Mossman 4-H Trust, which has grown from $5,000 in the mid-1950s to approx.

$100,000 today as well as numerous in-kind donations of materials, volunteer

labor, and use of heavy equipment at no charge. Additional capital funds will be

needed and raised for furnishings, programs and endowment.

Yearly operational costs are estimated at $35,000. Our goal is to raise $70,000 by

the fall of 2004 to fund the cost of operating for the first two years.

The Montachusett Regional YMCA has agreed to partner with the Teen Center and

will provide operational liability insurance, administrative payroll responsibilities,

assistance in hiring and training staff, and fundraising.
